The selfishness of Republicans never ceases to amaze me
I just saw this letter to the editor in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald written by one of our local fine and upstanding Republicans.

Those who want to burden their neighbors with the cost of their health care or anything else to which they believe they are "entitled" could simply go to their neighbor, stick a gun in their face and demand the money to pay for it directly.

The selfishness of this guy amazes me. I'd suggest he read Matthew chapters 10, 19, 23, and 25 - but I think the message would be lost on this clown.

1. better that neighbor should die while I watch O'Reilly on my
big screen TV that was made in China by slave laborers and that I bought at WalMart.
Hey why the hell should I pay taxes for a fire department that I will probably never use?
And what about the schools. I don't have kids. Why should I pay for someone else's kids to go to school?
And why should my taxes pay for roads in Minnesota? I'll never go to Minnesota!
Jesus Christ, why can't these people take care of themselves?

One can only hope this guy goes to the hospital only to find his insurance was rescinded without his knowledge.

2. That's pretty much the attitude of local Republicans around here...
They're all the more shrill because they live in a Democratic leaning area.

3. The ones down here (well, some of them are nuts) are
nice Christian people who honestly believe that God helps those who help themselves and that those who have wealth or earn wealth (better yet) are blessed by God in this life and are certain to merit an afterlife with Him and the blessed angels. If you don't work, you are damned. The people who believe this are friendly and cheerful as well. These are beliefs that are impossible to dislodge because they are ALSO part of the essential American Dream and from its very source in Calvinist theology.

between Dems and pukes. I would gladly chip in to cover his healthcare if he ever needs it. I would expect him to do the same for me, if I ever need it.

5. Not so much 'selfish'
as mean and vindictive.
