Iowa trooper in hot water for email.

This was in the general discussion board already, but since this is an Iowa subject I'm putting it up here too. Sgt. Rodney Hicok got himself into some hot water lately by using a state issued laptop to forward an inappropriate email disparaging President Obama and his supporters.

The patrol says that this will be on his record permanently. I hope that means that he won't be up for promotion anytime soon.

1. So did he get

a 30 day suspension with pay?

One cop down here got a 1 year suspension with pay for a bar fight. Then he sued for his vacation pay on top of it.

I don't freakin' call that a punishment, that's a gosh darn good vacation. I'm still mad about that. I wonder if I could get a year off with pay and promise to do something illegal at a later date.

3. In Dubuque if you're a cop you can get away with all sorts of stuff

And even if the department tries to punish the cops they turn around and get some court to stick them back on the force.

2. Couple things I noticed

1) it was Eugene Meyer who handed out the suspension. My idiot (and I do mean idiot) senator, Jim Hahn, refused to vote for Meyer because he was nominated by Culver. Meyer came with unusually high praise and recomendations.
2) This guy has 27 years on IHP and he pulls an idiot stunt like this? Wouldn't you think he would have known he couldn't even think of doing that?
