The McCaughey septuplets - what ever happened?
With the birth of the octuplets in California it made me wonder what happened to the McCaughey septuplets in Carlisle?
I remember thinking at the time that with the low birth weights there would possibly be lots of medical problems. Also, they got a bunch of free stuff given to them including a house. Must be nice. If I sound a but sarcastic on this I am.

I think they puposely have tried to stay low key as their kids got older. They are 10 years old now. Two have a form of CP and have had several surgeries, I think the rest are fine. They both work at a factory and, I'm sure, scrape by like everyone else. I saw an article on the Octuplets in Texas, born just shortly after the McCaughey septuplets. One of them died about a week after birth so their are actually only seven now. What is interesting is that they actually went on and had another child after giving birth to 8 babies! I can't imagine what would possess a person to do that but, to each his own!
I don't think either of these have met the level of "free stuff" that the Gosselin family (septuplets and twins) in PA has. They just bought a million dollar home in PA and a condo in Utah (for ski vacations). But, giving up your private life for $50.000.00 an episode for your own tv show, tends to help in the finances category. I just hope they are putting some of that money away for the future as the mom and dad neither one work "real Jobs" anymore. Just the tv show.
While I am sitting here freezing with the heat off because we both lost jobs and think of our one, responsibly planned child, it just kind of ticks me off. There are too many multiples anymore and it is becoming more and more glorified with people getting tv shows and specials, without taking into account the long term effects of adding that many more people to the planet, especially those with long term health care needs.

4. Well, as St. Ronnie used to say, Iowa is losing population.
Enough McCaugheys and we can keep a congressional seat!!
