Culver and Judge Cancel on Educators, They won't hold a
scheduled meeting with the ISEA 1/10/09. My wife is in DM and mentioned that fact when I called her. I guess Chet and Patty are still hunting around DM for the Bipartisan middle they so desire to work with. That's funny I thought I saw a (D) by Culver's name on election day and not a (B). Or an (R). I guess I was WRONG!

1. I guess people are more interested in Medieval Church History
than this topic! Briefly teachers want better pay and more bargaining rights. Culver deserted them last year but he is going to have to face the issue again as the Dems have increased their numbers. If he can quit emulating Terry Branstad maybe we can jave some progress here. Actually Branstad was relatively more forthcoming to education in Iowa than Vilsack or Culver and he DID NOT have to be since teachers were obviously not his base.

2. Culver has been a HUGE, HUGE disappointment on labor issues
and of course the sad thing is that the choice in 2010 will be between him and some neanderthal right winger who wants to snuff out unions.
Seems more and more we have a choice between Ultra RW and chicken shit Dems.

3. I was at the ISEA meeting where Culver cancelled
Didn't see Mrs. Hardrada, but will have to look for her the next time.

People weren't disappointed that Culver didn't make, they were pretty pissed. Heard murmurings about a primary (though not from anyone official or anything).

4. I saw you!
Hi P, I think you were at our party after the meeting!

I wonder if Fallon would consider running again.

5. Huge Fallon Fan, but I hope he doesn't run against Culver
Murphy or Gronstal could do it if they were pissed off enough. A longtime State Senator from Eastern Iowa (maybe the Iowa City area) with strong union backing might be able to do it.

And if I was at your party  , thanks again for the wine!

6. Of course you were at my wife's party. A lot of folks were. She
and her IC friends always bring quantities of wine for the good ISEA folk. (and none for the PEI people who were lurking in the same motel).

8. Not going
Hi, Many of my friends are going. NP from Iowa City, CH and CW from my school. If you don't remember the party or me, maybe you weren't there. We were in room 274 and there were three or more people on the balcony overlooking the pool. I thought you were one of them because one of their names started with Stan. I would love to be going but we can't send so many - the ones who are going are forking over quite a bit to go. I will try to be elected to go to the RA this summer and I always go to Leg. Conf. I used to be on exec bd. If my friend gets the Charles F Martin award, I would like to go to Del Assembly in Ames. Hope to see you sometime! Mrs. Hardrada
