Sharon Savage for State Senate Soup Supper fundraiser
Attended the Sharon Savage for State Senate Soup Supper fundraiser Saturday night. Great crowd . . . ran out of soup. Lots of good Dems and homemade desserts!

Sharon gave a great speech and inspired her supporters.

The only downside was a Dodd surrogate. Some congressman from Minnesota. He told a joke on his trophy wife (who was in the room). He said that she had a horticulture degree from the U of M. He said you know what they say about horticulture grads - "You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her drink."

I was embarrassed for everybody in the room, especially his wife. With surrogates like that, Dodd will finish 8th of 8.

1. Dorothy Parker
Do you think he meant the Dorothy Parker quote, "You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her think" ?
I've actually always liked that quote. I can see how it might be a show-stopper in a public setting, though.

Glad you had a good time at the Soup Supper! Did you get to meet mr. and mrs. rurallib? They were there. :)

2. Yes they were and Yes I did
Mr. & Mrs. rurallib were there.

He could have said "think." Maybe, just maybe the congressman muffled the punch line because he realized that you shouldn't tell that kind of joke on your wife in Iowa!

3. Ouch - not the right place for that line.
I bet there were a lot of embarrassed people after that.

4. OK we got tp meet. We were in the same room
not more than feet from each other.
I told Sharon that her speech was great. We need to win this one and retire Hahn permanently.
