Just want to say to you people to be careful out there! It looks like some wild weather out that way. Possible tornados in Des Moines. Flooding along the river there and on the Wapsipinicon both north of here and out here too! Hopefully the bush a-holes won't deny Gov. Vilsack's request for disaster funding. Our state is under seige by Mother Nature.

1. Very bad

1,700 homes without power in South side of Des Moines. Airport terminal and West Des Moines malls evacuated. Large hail. Another wave of storms headed our way. The news radio is reporting manhole covers blown off downtown. The DSM river coming over the banks downtown and flooding the riverfront YMCA. Fleur Drive is gone - under 4 feet of water and going higher.

Still Tornado warning and sirens going.

6. Oh My God!

I was there in January, and had such a wonderful time. The Dean headquarters was just down the street from Kerry's headquarters, and Fleur was one of the main street names I remember very close to them.

That one park alongside the river was where our buses grouped before heading home to Texas.

Be careful and safe, Des Moisians! I'm thinking of you!

2. remember flooding right after bushco got in- didn't adm deny fed funds?

This sounds like that major flood in early 90s.

3. Another tornado

This one on the East side of Des Moines. Out by the fairgrounds. Some of the pictures are quite amazing of the wall clouds, funnel clouds.

Our front street looks like a waterfall. I can only imagine where this water will end up.

4. I'm in Iowa City

Hope it calms down some before it gets this far!

5. The basement

It's flooded, damn. Water is streaming in through the walls. Standing water all around the house. I think we are going to lose the foundation of the house.

Anyone know if a three story house will keep standing if the foundation crumbles?
