Democrats Criticize Rokita Report For Link To Congressional Site

POSTED: 4:22 pm EST February 8, 2010
UPDATED: 6:59 pm EST February 8, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS -- Secretary of State Todd Rokita is taking heat over a link to his campaign Web site included in a publicly-funded publication.

Last week, the Republican declared his candidacy for Congress in the 4th District of West Central Indiana being vacated by longtime Rep. Steve Buyer.

Shortly after, his monthly Rokita Report, a state-paid publication highlighting the activities of the Secretary of State's office, included a note encouraging people to visit his campaign's Facebook.com fan page.

State Democrats said they believe Rokita is misusing the publication, which is paid for with taxpayer money.

"I don't know if it's breaking the law, but it's sure skirting the line between using official state property for campaign purposes," said Indiana Democratic Chairman Dan Parker. "I think that it raises a serious issue that probably the state Inspector General is going to have to take a look at."

1. I'm an ex-hoosier
In reading the comments following the article I see some trends much like the trends I see in comments in papers here. Does anyone else feel uncomfortable seeing comments that indicate it's more desireable to some people to send a dishonest republican to congress rather than an honest democrat just simply because he's a repub?

Kinda like what Edwards did is totally wrong and he should be cast out but what Ensign did can be forgiven -- or at least ignored.

I find this very disturbing.

2. Or Senator Vitter's sexual shenanigans can be ignored
Consider all those idiots that worship at the feet of Sarah Palin, and the more idiotic she appears, the more they love her.
