Correctional Officer Arrested for Battery (Juvenile facility)
PENDLETON, Ind. - A correctional officer at the Pendleton Juvenile Facility has been arrested. After a two month investigation, 42-year-old Connie Nevings has been arrested on a felony charge of battery with serious bodily injury.

Nevings, of Muncie, is alleged to have battered a juvenile inmate at the facility on Jan. 14. He allegedly threw the juvenile inmate across a room where the inmate's head struck a door. The inmate suffered serious head injuries that required 12 staples to close.

Neving's turned himself in and is being held at the Madison County Jail.

This is not the first time something like this has happened at Pendleton Juvenile Facility. About a year ago, I-Team 8 obtained surveillance video showing correctional officer Charles Patton picking up a 15-year-old boy who was handcuffed and shackled and then dropping him on his head. At the time, the Madison County prosecutor said three battery cases were pending against Pendleton staff and the superintendent was removed. But problems persist, most recently a 19-year-old at Pendleton was charged with molesting a 13-year-old inmate.
