Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 11:51 PM by BiggJawn
They both know what Jimmy Irsay tastes like.

If I was Mayor of India-no-place, I'd tell that slack-jawed yokel who'd be homeless if his daddy hadn't had owned the Baltimore Colts, "Look, Jimmy, you want the taxpayers to pony up money for a NEW playhouse for your millionaires to play in? You say the RCA dome is OLD? Hey, look around you. This place was built in 19-fuckin'-61. Maybe YOU should be buying ME a new office...OK, fine, but I'm putting some performance 'strings' on it. You bring me a Super Bowl ring, and then maybe we can work something out. Until then, get the fuck off the 25th floor, you're stinking up the place..."

$600,000, just to see if it's "feasible" to build a new stadium south of the present one. How much you wanna bet they find some SERIOUS "brownfield" issues with that area?

1. bownfield issues
that site was very CLOSE to the old livestock yards of yesteryear.
truly. Also a lot of former industrial and warehousing was there.
You might be right. But will it get covered up with TONS of concrete?
Could be.

2. There were "Concerns" with Conseco
It was built on the site of the old gas works. I remember hearing that they were expecting huge problems...But never heard if there were any.

I understand that the proposed site of Jimmy's Playhouse has an underground stream running through it, and that whole near-southside has a major industrial past. Factories, Warehouses, who knows what's been done there.

It's been so long, I can't remember exactly where the stockyards were,. I think they were to the west of there, along the river.
