I'm a Washingtonian so my voice won't count much. But from what I understand, Bayh is pro-choice, and Indiana is poised to pass a law (if it hasn't already) to outlaw abortion automatically if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

If this is correct, Bayh should have a particular interest (besides wanting to uphold the Constitution and the checks and balances among the three branches of federal government) to keep Alito off the Supreme Court. In addition, an appeal can be made that Bush should not be allowed to pack the court while the potential criminal nature of Bush's warrantless electronic searches on Americans has not yet been resolved.

Take heart and write!

cheers

1. I've been relentless
No need to worry about me. I've been calling, emailing, and faxing. What gets me is that Bayh was one of the 22 who voted against Roberts--and he announced his opposition several weeks before the vote. So, why the hell is he on the fence with Alito? The choice should be clear...

2. it's really strange isn't it?
How can he be anti-Roberts but unsure about Alito?

Then again, Bayh seems to be convinced that wishy washy will win him the presidency in 2008.

3. I didn't realize that about Bayh (re: Roberts)
Thank you for keeping up the heat. It's in his best interest for promote the filibuster.

I don't want to criticize your state, Progressive4Life, but, it ain't lookin' pretty these days for people who believe in civil, individual and women's right these days.

I did happen upon a fairly nice pub there though, on a busines trip. It wasn't easy to find.

I walked all over Indianaoplis. It's about as different from Seattle as one could find - no hills! I did finally find an evening tavern where I could watch the Seattle Mariners game, but the wouldn't put the sound on because they were having Karaoke trials. I met a nice old guy at the bar who sounded jusr like Nat King Cole. He said he lived for Kaoake.

Anyway, now you have Nitch Daniels to deal with as well.

My sympathies.
