Rokita is hiring "Voting System Expert"
ACT FAST: According to the updated Opportunity Indiana web site, Todd Rokita and those fine folks at the Secretary of State's office have sent out a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking a "Voting System Expert" (RFP 040-002). Interesting that the RFP posts today, but the dealine for response Opening date was 6/22/05 and "All proposals must be received at the address below by the SOS no later than 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on June 22, 2005."
Sounds like he already knows who he is hiring for this - and it's probably NOT a Democrat.
And yes, who ever he hires will have FREE REIGN and full access to the voting machine hardware and software programs.
Recipe for another stolen election!

1. Be sure to check state law...
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 12:31 PM by punpirate
... to see if the RFP has to be posted for a minimum period of time. If it does have to appear for a minimum number of days larger than this period (and be published in a minimum number of newspapers, not just the web), then the RFP itself is illegal and must be withdrawn and reissued according to state rules.

Cheers.

3. PunPirate - YOU ROCK!
You're right - I think what he is doing IS illegal -- and this isn't the first RPF with a one or two day turn-around. I've turned the media on to it, and WISH TV is following up!

2. Follow up - Media has been alerted
I have already received a follow up phone call from a producer at WISH-TV Channel 8, who plans to follow up on the story!
Way to go, WISH-TV!
Maybe this time our vote WILL COUNT!

4. Couldn't find the stated law they referenced
The Indiana Secretary of SOS (“SOS”), requires services to help the SOS implement the voting system technical oversight program pursuant to IC 3-11-16, including the provision of oversight and assistance with respect to the certification, acquisition and use of voting systems in Indiana as more specifically set forth herein. It is the intent of SOS to solicit responses to this Request for Proposals (RFP) in accordance with the proposal preparation section and specifications contained in this document.

It only goes to 3-11-15 http://www.ai.org/legislative/ic/code/title3/ar11/index.html

And it appears that is the code they reference.

It appears that the RFP was created 6/1/2005.
