1. Speaking of BBV and Indiana (Marion County)
'Marion County Clerk Doris Anne Sadler announced today that a portion of the voting system used in last November's election was never certified by the state of Indiana -- casting doubt over last year's election results two weeks before the May 4 primary.

The uncertified software tallied votes for more than 150,000 voters who turned out Nov. 4 and, Sadler said, has since been replaced by the company that sold the machines, Omaha-based Election Systems & Software.

"With complete disregard for business ethics and with intent to deceive, (the company) worked to keep their actions from the Marion County Election Board and their employees," Sadler said.

The Marion County Election Board has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday to discuss what action to take. Election officials may try to get out of their $11.1 million contract with the company or could ask Indiana to ban their voting systems statewide.'

Voting machine firm must audit system, Election Board rules

Election Systems & Software, the company that provides Marion County with its voting machines, must conduct a systemwide audit before the May 4 primary to ensure that all of its equipment is legal.

The independent audit, which ES&S has agreed to pay for, was required by the Marion County Election Board on Thursday after allegations that the Omaha, Neb.-based company used illegal software in the Nov. 4 election.

The three-member Election Board pummeled a company representative Thursday over why the incorrect software was installed and why the company did not tell county election officials there was a problem.

"We can't afford to make any more announcements about mistakes to our voters," said Marion County Clerk Doris Anne Sadler, one of three members of the Election Board.

3. Wow...
I'm going to pass those articles along to everyone I know in Indiana, for sure!

I've been trying to get the word out, giving info to people at work and on other chat forums, and adding info to my sig line about how/where to find info and talk to your senators and reps! It's an uphill battle, but people do eventually 'get it' if you make it pretty simple - "you work with computers, you know how much they can crash. do you want to trust only a computer to count your vote?" Seems to be a pretty good line!
