Sequoia Voting Machines in Cook Co.
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 01:52 PM by Gidney N Cloyd
FYI
I wrote Cook County Clerk's office to check on paper trails with the new voting machines, which I thought were part of the purchase specs. The article in the Daily Herald didn't mention the paper part (issue is either off their radar or they had to edit for space so there was room for news about a Boy Scouts fundraiser or something).

Glad to see paper's still coming.

Dear sirs:
An article in the Daily Herald
(http://www.dailyherald.com/search/searchstory.asp?id=96362) announced the purchase of new electronic voiting machines. Can you confirm that these machines will include the voter verified paper trail feature that had been promised?
Thank you.

1. As per law, paper trail is required in Illinois. We are the lucky ones.

2. A "paper trail" or "receipt" is NOT necessarily a
"Voter verified paper ballot as ballot of record". Cook Ctyites, better check on that. Otherwise, per the Great Andy S., who yelled this at me (good naturedly) until I got it: legally & recount wise, ya got nuthin but a paper purple finger.
