Who's annoyed about AAR's signal in Chicago?
And what can we do about it?

Is there anything we can do to help AAR find a new station in Chicago?

Should we bombard the Tribune and Sun-Times with commentary on their obvious disdain for AAR?

What do Chicagoans think?!?! I'm pissed off, and I believe that Multicultural is actively partaking in censorship -- aided and abetted by the Tribune and Sun-Times.

1. It's already in the works!
I am in arlington heights and the signal sucks. There was a thread yesterday in GD saying AAR was leaving 950 as of April 30. Someone posted this in response:

7. I'm in Arlington Heights, too
The north side of Arlington Heights - just south of Lake-Cook road - gets awful reception. From inside my house, I can't get any signal at all, which means that I have to use the stream.

Reception is a little better in the car, but it of course only gets worse as I go further northwest.

What really sucks is that I live a stone's throw away from the Christian Rock station's (the FISH) repeater. Since they can violate the FCC and get away with it, I'm forced to listen to "Jesus loves you, hee hee hee" whenever I turn my speakers up. And we of course can't even get a REAL radio station to get a repeater built.

2. McHenry County
Hi,

I'm in McHenry county and the only time I can listen to AAR is in the car; but if I turn a corner....forget it.

As a result of this problem I am looking at satellite radio...I think it will be my best solution.

Cheers,
Kim

3. Can get it in the car, not in the house...
... though I don't really have a good antenae in the house. I was lost for the couple of days when they were off the air. I really hope they have something lined up after 04/30. Don/Roma and Roe can shove it.

4. Same here out in Aurora
Good God, WLS was driving me completely over the edge. I think Don's the one who pushed me to the point of actually hating Bush. Talk about the RW partisan spin! He's as bad as Rush! :puke:

5. What about Internet streaming?
You can't do streaming, either? Ugh.

6. Schaumburg - very poor signal in car
I'm thinking the Multicultural fiasco may turn out to be a boon. Maybe AAR will align with someone who can provide a stronger signal.

8. AAR free archives
Hi all,

I'm new and I was sifting through the IL threads and I found this one. Sorry to bump it after so long, but you can download archived episodes of AAR programs and listen to them in your car on CD.

www.airamericaplace.com and http://bigelow-springs.net/airamerica/ both have archived files of most shows. Not breaking radio broadcasts, but you can still get your fix in the car.

I don't know when Chicago is supposed to get another station, though. When Janeane was on a talk radio program here in Champaign a few weeks back, she wasn't even aware that AAR was off the air in Chicago. She said she had been told they were on the air in Chicago. 'Course this was about the time they kicked all the scoundrals out....

Ratings come out in about 2 weeks, perhaps if they are good, Chicago will get a station quickly thereafter.

12. Yup have to agree
Sirius is the best way to get your liberal talk now. I live in waukegan, Lake County and 950 is a bad, sad joke of a signal this far north. I HIGHLY recommend Sirius....I listen to Sirius Left with Ed Schultz and Young Turks, when not listening to AAR, which has its own channel. My wife loves the other channels.
