"Jailed white supremacist leader Matthew Hale, one focus of a massive investigation into the shooting deaths of a federal judge's husband and mother, can no longer receive visits from his parents or talk to them on the phone, Hale's father said Tuesday.

The weekly phone calls and every-other-week visits with his parents at a federal lockup in Chicago have been halted indefinitely, Russell Hale said.

Russell Hale and his ex-wife, Evelyn Hutcheson, had been scheduled for a visit with their son Tuesday. But Hale's father said a counselor told him late Monday that the visits and calls are on hold.

"I was just so stunned that I didn't think to ask why," he said. "It's especially hard because we need him now and he needs us."
