Michael Mishra is Associate Professor and Director of Orchestral Activities at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he also teaches courses in orchestration, conducting, analysis, and symphonic literature.

Dr. Mishra's main research area is the life and works of Dmitri Shostakovich. He is currently preparing a 500-page volume, The Shostakovich Companion,to be published by Greenwood in 2004.
