3. It's humming down here in Champaign

As I drive through the campus and walk the quads, the students are more loquacious and it's really humming. I expect by 3:30-4, this place will be rockin' since the Chicago Sport Talk shows are coming down, and some other stuff. BTW, the game starts at 8PM on ESPN2, I belive.

6. As a transplanted Big XII fan, I regret to say

that I am afraid that the Illini are unlikely to get to the Final 4. I realize that it does take talent and some luck to win 28 in a row, don't get me wrong. But the defenses of the Big 10 are completely underwhelming. There are 4 Big XII teams and 5 ACC teams that could waltz through the Big 10 schedule unbeaten with a good bounce here and there.

Understand: I am not talking trash. I hope the Illini win some games in March. I'm just preparing you for the real world that exists outside the completely devoid of defense corn-belt. I mean seriously, when your toughest conference foes are MSU and Wisconsin, teams that would finish in the bottom half of the PAC, XII, or ACC, you know that you've been dining on puffs-de-la-creme.

Good luck, but let me be the first to mention, you are going to need it. The first time you run across an Arizona State, Texas Tech, or Duke, you';re done.

7. Illini already won against Wake Forest

I'm a Texas Tech fan, but they cannot win very easily on the road. I think NC, Duke, or Syracuse will be formidable opponents.

I think if the Illini leaders stay healthy, they have a great opportunity to win it all. They have the luck of being no more than 3.5 hours driving anywhere, which means their Orange Crush fans will be following them. :kick:
