People's Inaugural w/ Cong. Schakowsky
Please don't flame me for have low post totals. As is said on many garbage morning radio shows, "long time listener, first time caller."

If anyone works, lives or can get to the loop mid-day tomorrow, Congresswoman Schakowsky is hosting a "People's Inaugural."

Here are the details along with a message from the Congresswoman. I am not the RSVP person, incidentally:

The People's Inaugural
Thursday, January 20th, 2005
12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm
The Allegro Hotel
171 W. Randolph, Chicago

This Thursday, President Bush is going to be sworn in to his second term. (
I know, I know, think "Nixon") We have an opportunity to express our disple asure with this event. While the President is kicking off his second term with a $40 million dollar bacchanalian display of cooperate greed and power, we will be holding our own People's Inaugural. As the President is sworn in with the oath of office, we too, will take an oath, to take America forward.

We swear to defend Social Security, we swear to fight for fully funded public schools, and we swear to continue to voice our strong the opposition tothis administration's misguided policies. We will fight to take America forward, despite the administration's best efforts.

Please join us, this Thursday, for the People's Inaugural.

Jan Schakowsky

(please RSVP by e-mail if you can attend, alex@janschakowsky.org)

1. Welcome to the DU Illinois Forum
You won't get flamed here for low post totals. In the Illinois Forum, we only flame those who have large post totals. Thanks for the info. Schakowsky is busy! She is going to be at IBM plaza tonight. I'll probably try and make this. Thanks for posting and don't forget to sign in on one of the roll call threads.

3. Dammit I knew this would happen
For weeks I've been trying to decided whether to take Black Thursday off (I get very few days off so it's a big decision) so I've been trying to find something going on in Chicago that I could attend. I didn't find anything so I didn't take the day off. NOW I hear about this.

I'd call in sick but I already made a lunch date with a big group to welcome someone back from maternity leave (I'm not ordering anything though, as I will be observing Not One Damn Dime Day).

Oh well, if anyone attends let us know about it.

4. Crap
I wasn't able to make it. How did this event turn out? Did anyone end up making it?

I RSVPed and everything, but I ended up needing to work longer than I thought I would.
