Peoria Journal-Star: Illinois Senate OKs gay-rights bill
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 01:41 AM by Tweed
SPRINGFIELD - Gay-rights legislation cleared its primary hurdle Monday when the Illinois Senate passed the measure prohibiting job and housing discrimination against homosexuals.

Lawmakers approved Senate Bill 3186 by a 30-27 vote, with one member voting "present." The vote count hit the exact mark for votes needed for passage.

The House is expected to pass the measure today.

Similar legislation has passed the House in previous years but had never been called for a vote in the Senate before Monday night."

A victory for all I say.

2. And oddly enough, my hometown paper actually reported it
Usually the PJ acts more like the Daily Oklahoman than the NY Times

3. I wonder if "Blowhard Keyes" is still lurking around in Illinois?
He'd blow his top over this one for sure!

6. I think the people of Illinois ran him out on a rail after the election.
We won't hear anything from him for a while.

5. I saw that as well
Nice to live in a state now where this kind of thing can pass - Bitch Daniels in Indiana is sure to help push a constitutional amendment in Indiana to ban gay marriage. He didn't campaign on it, but the GOP over there will try it.
