Militias in Idaho
Does anyone else living in Idaho have problems with militias in their areas? The 21st Battalion of North Idaho’s Lightfoot Militia, the one featured on Nightline, is beginning to cause major concern for many of us here in Bonner (Sandpoint) and Boundary (Bonners Ferry) counties. Read some of these posts from the Bonner County newspaper, the Daily Bee. After the article, the replies start at the bottom and moves up toward the top. They are getting threatening.

From the second link, Matt Hathaway wrote on Apr 15, 2010 11:56 AM: At least most of the people who comment here have the balls enough to say who they are unlike you who is to scared to put your butt on the line. When crap hits the fan it would be nice to know who the enemy really is like people like you.
You can read about them and watch the video here:

I've lived through this type of sedition back in 1957 - 1965 while growing up in the south under the Jim Crow laws. I don't like living through it again in my elder years.

2. 21st Lightfoot -----not to worry...
I've been causing havoc with this group for over a year both in print, over the net and in local newspapers. I recently was interviewed by a Spokane TV station about my opposition to this and associated groups. Furthermore, I wrote Governor Otter for the State of Idaho's position regarding these militia groups. Following is his response, dated 7/29/2009:

"Dear John,

Thank you for contacting me about the Idaho People's Constitutional Militia and the North Idaho 21st Battalion of Light Foot. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

Please rest assured that I do not in any way endorse either of these 'militia' groups. They have no affiliation with me, the State of Idaho, the Idaho National Guard, or the Armed Services of the United States. I know nothing about them; I do not interact with them or their members, and I do not recommend or advocate any level of involvement in militia activities.

Please contact local law enforcement officials if you feel there is an immediate risk to public safety related to the activities of these groups.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns relating to state government.

As Always - Idaho, 'Esto Perpetua'

(Signed) C.L. Butch Otter - Governor of Idaho"

I have been a publicly aggressive "thorn" in their side and will continue to do so until they disband and I'm beginning my efforts against the other militias in Idaho to inform them that they also fall into the same category as the 21st Light Foot - completely disavowed by all levels of Idaho State government and amounting to nothing more than "private armies", as they are referred to by current law, having no lawful foundation to make a declaration as to being a Constitutional militia.

So, if they are a "concern" to you, or you feel threatened by them or their activities, PLEASE contact local authorities. The more valid complaints against them, the more unhealthy a climate it will be for them to stay here.
