Thousands of Idaho Democrats
From Craig Cooper: http://www.cooperforidaho.com/

FACT: When asked about party affiliation, 40% of Idahoans describe themselves as Independents.

FACT: 30% of Idahoans consistently vote for Democrats.

FACT: If 40% are Independent and 30% Democrat, then 30% are Republican.

RESULT: There are as many loyal Democrats in Idaho as there are loyal Republicans.

Idaho elections are decided by political independents, who have been voting for Republican candidates lately. We can change that. My campaign will change that by teaming together the 10's of thousands of Idaho Democrats who can afford to give just $15 for better government. For the cost of 2 movie tickets, you can join up with 1000's of your good friends to hit those corrupt Washington cheats where it hurts!

75,000 Idaho Democrats * $15 per Democrat will give us over $1 million worth of Idaho firepower. Let's tell Bush and his corrupt cronies to outsource that!

If the stink of government corruption makes you want to lose your lunch, then join up now and invest that $15 into our nation. Join the 10's of thousands of your friends and neighbors who are banding together to take back our country!

1. Is he running against Mike Simpson?
I'm not in that district, but I can probably afford a $15 donation.

I've heard exactly *zero* about Mr. Cooper, but it's not surprising in this state. His position on abortion is ambiguous at best, but that's probably a good thing in Idaho. He seems to support bans on gay marriage, so I'll have to think about that donation a bit more before I send it.

2. Yeah, he is running against Mike Simpson.
He is actually pro-choice, but the way he portrays it on his website is designed to appeal to independents and republicans. As far as gay marriage, I can't say for sure, but from what he has told me, he is opposed to any constitutional amendments to ban it and doesn't believe in legalized discrimination. If you want more information, pm me and I will give you his personal email address. Next time I speak to him, I will also get the straight, non sugarcoated message.

3. Here's what it says on his web site
http://www.cooperforidaho.com/families

Homosexual Marriage
"Regulation of marriage is a right reserved to the States. President Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act, which prevents one state from being forced to accept homosexual marriages performed in another state. I fully support this law."

I agree with a majority of his policy statements, but the gay marriage thing for me is (almost) a deal breaker with some Dems. If you could speak with him and get his actual stance, I'd very much appreciate it. You could PM me with that info if you don't want to post it out here in the forums.

Thanks!
