Abercrombie rumored as possible Lingle challenger ...

By Richard Borreca

U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie is now one of the most prominent Democrats being mentioned as a possible candidate for the 2006 governorship race.

Brickwood Galuteria, state Democratic Party chairman, said he has talked to Abercrombie about running, and the 67-year-old congressman "didn't reject it and he didn't accept it."

Abercrombie, who would have to leave his congressional seat to run for governor, would not rule out a possible candidacy.

Asked about his plans, Abercrombie said there were several good Democrats considering a campaign, but he stopped short of saying he would not run.

1. Hanabusa would be a solid choice. She's all business, no nonsense.
Colleen would kick Lingle's narrow behind all over the lot.

2. We need to talk.
Hanabusa carried water for Lingle and the repukes all last session. In particular she is tied in with repuke developer Jeff Stone and has even moved in to his fancy gated Ko Olina community, conveniently still attached to her district.

Sigh... I once had such high hopes for the "tita with brains"...

4. Do you think Colleen would take a dive if she became the nominee?

3. Neil rocks, but what about the seat in Congress?
The 'pukes once came close to "swindling" us out of it even with Neil as the incumbent. An open seat in today's showery O'ahu political climate scares me.

Boy, oh boy, though, what it'd be like to have him on the fifth floor instead of what's-her-face. I heard him speak at the MLK dinner in Jan. '04, and I thought, "Wow! Get this guy on a plane to New Hampshire!"

5. I hope The Dems get someone
excellent to run against lingle. If Abercrombie does and for some reason loses then can't he run for congress again in a couple of years?

Also, how much longer before the two Senators retire?
