I get to go with my city's youth council to the Capitol and meet some of the legislature.

Anything on your minds? A teacher of mine said to make sure to pass Res. 171 (teacher retirement raise)

1. Oppose Senate Bill 386 to redistrict and split Athens-Clarke County in two
See my previous posts in this forum for more background. You'll need to talk with Bobby Fanklin (R), Chair of the reapportionment committee.
(404) 656-5087 or bfranklin@legis.state.ga.us

The Republicans and the UN-ELECTED Athens Area Chamber of Commerce are jerking around the citizens of A-CC and we're not going to stand for. Sen. Casey Cagle of Gainesville (running for Lt. Gov. against Reed) is behind this travestty along with Sen. Brian Kemp (nleaving senate to run for Ag. Comm. against Tommy Irivin) and Se, Ralph Hudgens a fundamentalist wingnut form Madison COunty, whose son's billboard company owns those "God" and "Jesus" billboards on Hwy. 316. (None of these guys actually live in Athens-Clarke County.)

3. My dad was born and raised in Madison Co.
and lives in Oglethorpe Co. You can understand why I feel like I'm suffocating every time I go over for a visit. I'll be looking you up for drinks and sanity next time I'm in that part of Georgia - Athens is my sanctuary!

4. I used to live in both of those places! PM me when you travel here.
I'd love to meet for drinks and hear all about life in England! We could plan a mini-DU Athens meetup. There arre some other Duers who want to meet in Athens this spring or summer. :hi:

2. Governor Names
Seriously, no more silly first name governors. No Zells or Sonny's, if you have a funny name you use as your common name you are not allowed to run for Governor of the state. I mean really do the low test scores have continue, at least not with some totally embarrassing named Governor.
