I'm a bit bummed about Manuel's
So, they are going 18 and over because of the new smoking ban (so that smokers can continue to drink there). I know it is selfish, but I had hoped to indoctrinate my daughter there when she got a little older, but not as late as 18, LOL.

Anyone else losing "family" privileges at favorite haunts?

1. You know what I can't figure out?
I've been to France a couple of times, and a LOT of people smoke there, but there never seems to be a smoke problem in the cafe's.

'Course, I've never been there in the dead of winter.

3. Sorry.....
I am a smoker and I am glad to see Manuel's going for the adult side of the smoking ban. Bars......especially a political one for adult conversations and lots of drinking are not for children.

Most of the bars I know are over in Decatur and their ordinance is most stricter than the state's ordinance. No smoking in any bar there.

5. why would a "political bar" be bad for children?
I don't get it. As a child, I was often around grown-ups talking politics. What does beer have to do with it?

7. Why should any bar be for children?
Not everyone wants children running around screeching while they have a cocktail or two or three and occasionally have dinner.

An establishment where the primary purpose is to consume alcoholic beverages is not for children.

Nor do I think the government has the right to legislate to a private business about an activity that was not illegal last time I checked.

8. The point is, children were welcome there before the smoking ban.
Geez.

9. I wouldn't know....
I don't usually enter Manuels until 8 or 9 o'clock and I never saw children. I wonder why Manuels doesn't do what other bars have done? I know of a couple that are serving only adults after 9 pm. Seems to me that would solve the problem.

10. That's a great solution.
But I wonder if the new laws banning smoking makes that impossible now.

4. Vortex too...
Vortex has gone 21-older. Sad that the youth of Atlanta will have to wait until their twenty-one to get a good burger.

11. I'm happy about the vortex' decision to ban kids.
Who wants to go to a bar and have to deal with someone else's loud kids?
I've always been annoyed by people bringing their babies & screaming toddlers into bars . . . .

Bars are for adults to drink, smoke & enjoy themselves . . . . There are plenty of restaurants that will still be available for families. The parents don't mess with mannys & the vortex, & I won't mess with their chuck e cheese,

I do feel bad than the ban will effect teenagers & older kids, I grabbed many a burger in bars with moms in my teen years, but certainly not when I was 3, & She certainly did not let me run around restaurants making noise & annoying other patrons as so many people seem to allow their kids to do today
