Question re GA Voting Law.....
I plan on voting Nov 2nd in Cobb. I don't anticipate my polling place having huge lines, but the thing is, I won't be able to get there until 5:30pm at the earliest.

As long as I am on line before the polls close, They have to let me vote, right?

4. Here's GA info - you can vote early if you want, today and Friday -

from the Georgia Secretary of State site - waiting in line at closing and advance voting info:
http://www.sos.state.ga.us/elections/elections/voter_information/default.htm

When do I vote?

Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on each election day. However, any voter who is waiting in line to vote at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote. The best time to go to the polls to avoid having to wait in long lines appears to be anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and avoiding the mid-day lunch hour, as peak voting hours historically are from 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 pm, and during the mid-day lunch hour.

Advance Voting in Georgia

Cobb 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (M,W,F); 8:00 am - 7:00 pm (T, Th) Board of Elections and Registration: 47 Waddell Street, Marietta 770-528-2581

Has your hectic schedule ever kept you from getting to the polls on Election Day? If so, a new Georgia law offers you a great solution. It’s called advance voting, and is designed to meet the needs of today’s busy Georgians.

Previously, Georgia election law permitted you to cast an absentee ballot only if you met certain specific requirements. With advance voting you may choose to vote in person before Election Day simply as a matter of convenience. Advance voting allows any registered voter to cast a ballot IN PERSON at the county voter registration office during normal business hours on the Monday through Friday of the week prior to an election.

Here’s how it works. Simply fill out an application at your registration office and provide one of the permitted forms of identification. You will be issued a ballot to cast right there in the county office. It’s that simple!

Please note that you cannot advance vote on the Monday immediately preceding the Tuesday election. Absentee voting is still available that day as long as you meet the specific requirements. And if you wish to cast a mailed absentee ballot from any location other than the registration office, you must still meet certain legal requirements. Traditional polling places will be open on Election Day. However if you choose to advance vote, you cannot cast another ballot at your precinct on Election Day.

6. YES, and you only need your DL to vote, if you take your VR card
Don't let anyone take it and keep it.

7. Don't bet on it -

Many in FLA were recently told that because of long lines and problems with e-voting during the recent early voting that only those who were in line before 5:00PM would get to cast their vote that day - but they could return the next day if unable to vote...I have no idea if this will be the policy for Nov. 2, though, so you might want to...

MAKE SURE! MAKE DOUBLE SURE! MAKE SURE YOUR VOTE IS COUNTED!!!

10. Absolutely.
I didn't want to do absentee ballot, but i don't entirely trust that it would be counted, and the hours for early voting didn't work for me, and my polling place is rinky dink and right around the corner from my house. I think i will print off the state boards confirmation of my polling status and bring it with me, if i have to.

But also my aprticular neighborhood is so damn republican i really don't think anyone is going to bother trying to suppress my vote.

11. yes you can vote as long as you're in line before closing time
however, I live in GA as well and I would recommend early voting if you can. If not, you'll be fine on 11/2 at 5:30.
