Edited on Wed Oct-03-07 05:22 AM by Ken Burch
The caucuses could be done after Feb 5th, leaving New Hampshire and Iowa with what they want.

They could leave the primary for statewide races.

It wouldn't leave them at the mercy of the GOP legislature.

They could be on good terms with the national party.

They'd lose nothing.

Why not think about it, at least?

1. I wrote them a very
unhappy letter a while back and got this yesterday.
Dear Florida Democrat,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings with us. After
discussions with Democrats all around the state, the Florida Democratic Party
determined that remaining committed to the January 29, 2008 Presidential
Preference Primary was in the best interest of Florida Democrats.

The Party has created an informative website, www.MakeItCountflorida.com, which
has a detailed analysis of our Delegate Selection process, reasons why Democrats
will make it count on January 29th, and answers to frequently asked questions
(FAQs). If you have a question that you feel isn’t addressed on the Make It
Count Florida website, please send an email to email@fladems.com with “Make It
Count Question” in the subject.

We have received hundreds of emails on this topic, and we’re doing our best to
review them all. However, our staff is small so please check the website FAQs
before resending your question if you have not received an answer from us.

We know the Primary debate has been emotional for many people, but now it’s time
to move forward. Florida Democrats absolutely must vote on January 29th. Let’s
remain united as Democrats because when we stick together, we win.

Sincerely,

The Florida Democratic Party

3. I guess I don't understand. What do they think they have to lose by backing off?
If they primary date change was, as I assume, pretty much a GOP trick, why do they think they have to go along with the trick?

This is just weird.

7. rofl
how the hell is this of any use?

It's like the party leaders are just burying their heads in the sand and pretending everything will be just fine.

2. They were given that opportunity.
When the DNC ruled against them, they were given 30 days to come into compliance, caucuses being one of the options, but they chose to continue being idiots instead.

You've got to be down here, and be involved in the process, to understand just how screwed up this state party is.

6. What's in this for Nelson anyway?
What does HE have to gain by enabling the DLC tantrum-throwers on this issue?

(Am I correct in assuming that it's the RIGHT WING of the Florida D's that are digging in their heels about this?)
