Tigger Smacks Kid at Disney World
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 08:23 AM by Wednesdays
Just breaking on CBS' Morning Show.

The "Tigger" mascot at Disney World is shown on video playfully hitting a kid at Disney World.

See, this is really, really important news, folks. :eyes:

3. I saw the video online and it looked like a mountain-out-of-a-molehill...
lawsuit setup to me.

How did CBS play it?

4. Of course ir is -- Disney gets sued constantly
many times it's legit, but many times it's just something like this -- a stupid setup for a nice payout.

My reaction, too. 3,000 plus dead soldiers in Iraq and this is the garbage spoon-fed to the American public.

You read the print and expect to see a little boy being punched, then you look at the video and you say "Jesus, he hardly touched the kid." And the kid was taller than Tigger.

12. Yep. The dad said it ruined their whole vacation and he was angry
that Disney apologized but Tigger didn't.

Other than to sue, there is no reason for this family to want this on TV, it makes them look like assholes.

13. I think you hit it right on the head
I live in Central Florida - have for 22 years. I have yet to visit Disney. I have no desire to.

But this kid was going beyond simply putting his arm around "Tigger". The character claims the kid was grabbing his costume and he could not breathe. I believe that in watching the video.

Why would he simply smack the kid - that does not make any sense.

15. I was suspicious about what the kid was doing with his arm
around the back of Tigger - it really doesn't make sense that Tigger would smack the kid for no reason. It looks like at first Tigger is trying to hold the kid's arm - so the choking thing sounds right to me. Plus the dad asks the kid "didn't he hit you hard?" and the kid answers "yeah, I can still feel it even with the padding on his hand" - yeah, right.

16. Unzipping the costume.
It's so obvious that the character's "hitting" was a mere reflex to whatever the kid was doing behind his back. It looks like unzipping, in my opinion. The character should countersue.

14. Has Anyone Read About The Spocko/Disney Thing?
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 08:52 AM by mntleo2
Here is the link about it on Kos: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/1/7/213952/1006
Mike Stark also wrote about it on Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-stark/abcdisney-picks-a-fight-_b_37973.html

Basically Spocko posted some right-wing hate talk on his website along with a list of the sponsors that these wingnuts had. He also wrote to the sponsors along with sending them samples of the hate speech and asked them if they were aware of what they were supporting. Disney was one of the supporters and so they threatened Spocko's ISP with a lawsuit unless they took this guy's site down. The ISP complied.

The point is that perhaps Disney is showing things like this in order to cover their butts for the REAL concerns bloggers are rasing with Disney's strong arm tactics. This way Disney can make ALL lawsuits look "trivial" in hopes that you and I might not notice when someone points out some stuff that WOULD damage their image.

Mike Stark is going to be on Sam Seder this morning talking about it.

My 2 cents

It will be on all the US morning shows.

That's axiomatic.
