REVOTE RALLY
2 PM Sunday, December 3, 2006
Bayfront Park, Sarasota, Florida

Concerned citizens of Sarasota County and voters from all over Florida will gather at a REVOTE RALLY Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Bayfront Park, Sarasota. The entrance to the park is from the parking lot south of Marina Jack’s Restaurant, 2 Marina Plaza, Sarasota, FL 34236.

Guest speakers will explain Sarasota’s nearly 15% “undervote” on the touchscreen voting machines, the experts’ scorecard on electronic voting systems, and the need to call upon local and state officials to honor democracy through a paper ballot revote in Sarasota County of the 13th District Congressional race. Other information and entertainment will be on hand.

On November 7, 2006, voters from all political parties were disenfranchised in a massive 18,000+ undervote on touch screen Direct Record Electronic (DRE) voting machines in Sarasota County. For two weeks leading up to Election Day, the Supervisor of Elections failed to respond dutifully to scores of machine malfunction complaints. The automatic “recounts” were nothing more than a reprint, a restatement of tallies from the machines themselves, without any investigation into whether votes were properly recorded. Computer scientists have found the spectacular undervote – in one county, one race – aberrant and statistically baffling. Despite this, local and state officials have ignored voters and refused to acknowledge the possibility of machine malfunction as a cause.

Our vote is the voice in which democracies speak. The likely failure of Sarasota County’s touch screen machines silences that voice. The persistent failure of elected officials to address a likely cause of the undervote suggests at best, disinterest and, at worst, intent to deprive and silence voters. All voters must know our election processes work, and that our votes will be accurately counted.

Common Cause, People for the American Way Foundation, VoterAction and the ACLU of Florida are sponsoring this event, together with VoteTrustUSA, the Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections and other nonpartisan Florida election reform groups, including the Florida Fair Elections Coalition, VIA Tampa Bay, the Broward Election Reform Coalition, and the Miami-Dade Election Reform Coalition.

Alas, I'm down here in Broward and will not be able to attend. I stand in solidarity with these people, though.

REVOTE RALLY!
JOIN US IN FIGHTING FOR DEMOCRACY!

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3rd - 2:00pm
BAYFRONT PARK, SARASOTA

ALL CONCERNED CITIZENS NEED TO ATTEND

Taxpaying, law-abiding citizens of Sarasota County of ALL POLITICAL PARTIES who
are outraged by the travesty of democracy in the election in the 13th
Congressional District in Sarasota County should be there.

We will not stand by as our government officials blithely dismiss 18,000+
"missing votes" and set an alarming precedent that corrodes our democracy.

It is time for us to draw a line in the sand. It is time for us to say to our
government, it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to have our voting machines malfunction and NOT
DO ANYTHING to record the vote of the people.

REVOTE is the only principled, democratic and patriotic response to this
terrible disenfranchisement of voters. Our election processes are BROKEN.

Sponsored by concerned citizens of Sarasota County with the support of Voter
Action, Common Cause, People for the American Way Foundation, and the ACLU, in
conjunction with the Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections and other nonpartisan
election reform groups around Florida including the Florida Fair Elections
Coalition, VIA Tampa Bay, the Broward Election Reform Coalition, and the
Miami-Dade Election Reform Coalition.

2. received from Clint Curtis campaign:
Walking for Democracy!
Clint Curtis for Congress Campaign

Clint has stood up for your vote again! He and several other 2006 Florida Candidates from across the state are Walking for Democracy.

You have not heard from us recently because remember the 10 days we thought we had over Thanksgiving to Walk for Democracy...We never received data until this Monday 11/27/2006.

There is great news! From the data that we have been able to pry out of the hands of the election officials (much of the data is yet to be released and it is almost a month after the election), Clint has been able to analyze precincts from Miami-Dade to Pinellas.

Miami-Dade - 12,000 more votes than voters;
District 15 - over 1,400 more votes than voters;
Clint's District 24 (Brevard) - 100 more phantom votes than voters in one Democratic district which caused it to go Republican.

Last weekend, we brought a team of volunteers to Walk for Democracy for a candidate in Pasco Co area. Dave Francis, Clint and Marty, along with Lauren Hallahan, and Tom Lincoln spent a Saturday knocking on doors, petting dogs and listening to constituents. With a few more hours of effort, it was proven that the official results were off by 20% giving the Democrat the precinct!

This Monday we at last received enough data to begin walking for Clint in Brevard. Loretta Fernandez, Tracy Williams, Gray Boot, Wayne Wiggins, Mark Oddi , Susan Coyle, Clint and Marty have been Walking for Democracy in the Titusville area. We have been successful in getting people to sign the affidavit telling who they voted for Governor, Congress and on Amendment 3. Almost everywhere we have gone we have been thanked for our efforts and concern about making sure their vote gets counted, offered pie and cookies and shared lots of political ideas. We even got one person to volunteer to help!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE YOUR MARK ON HISTORY!

The results from your efforts could be a recall or a new election. Best of all it could help bring about a more permanent solution for getting rid of the flawed electoral system! Clint has been fighting for free and fair elections for over five years. NOW he has the opportunity to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

In one Precinct we have started, Clint is looking good! We have more votes to find to put us over the top. We will be walking this Saturday in the Titusville area from 10:00 AM till 5:00. Come join us for as long or short as you like. Contact Marty 954-732-1112 or marty@go-nci.com . Let her know what time you would like to meet her at K-Mart on Rt 50.

Volusia is the next county to be walked with Orange and Seminole as soon as we have data. The data that we are gathering will be presented to Congress in January to restore Democracy. So let me know you are ready to WALK FOR DEMOCRACY.

If you live in other areas of the state, we have candidates who need your help as well. I'll pass your name along. Contact Marty at 954-732-1112 marty@go-nci.com.

Or if you are out of state and would like to be a part, please contribute at www.clintcurtis.com.

With YOU on the team, we can do it!
