Absentee Ballots: Check Correct Postage!
Here in Pinellas County we have 2 ballots.....they are heavy.....the envelop has spaces for 2 stamps.

Inside a special notice says....it requires .87 cents to mail these...........

Just wanted you all to remember to read the notices that come with these ballots.......

1. At least your supervisor tells us somewhere how much postage required.
In some counties, they only warn you to make sure you have enough postgage, but don't tell you how much is required. Our previous supervisor would put the amount of postage required inside the stamp box on the return envelope.

I doubt we are the only county in Florida making it more difficult for voters to get their absentee ballot returned for processing. It is called vote suppression, by any means they can think of!

2. Is someone aware
that the usual solution by a postal patron is to add one extra stamp, which just happens to be inadequate in this case?

4. In our county, two stamps would work, but our supervisor does not tell us even this much!

.................Some voters who sent in absentee ballots via U.S. mail are having them returned for insufficient postage.

snip

But this year, if you place a first-class stamp in each box - 78 cents - you'll fall short. This ballot required 87 cents in postage.

Nancy Whitlock, spokeswoman for the elections office, said the Postal Service was told not to return ballots and to bill the elections office for outstanding amounts.

snip

But 60-year-old Ginette Cornet of Largo said she had not gotten the instructions, and she was angry when her ballot was returned to her Saturday.

************** so you either have to go to Post office and get odd number of stamps ......or put 3 on....which equals to $1.17..........minus .87 cents.........The Post Office makes .30 0ver on each absentee ballot here in Pinellas county.........what a rip off.....

5. I Hand Delivered Mine... But Good To Keep Mentioning This!
Last time out, we were not told so I don't know if my vote got counted in 2004!! Sarasota County DID NOT let anyone know you had to pay extra postage! Ours is .69m but I just took them in myself!

I voted on the machines in between and we have no paper trail. Many many Floridians are still suspicious and I fear many ethnics won't vote which in turn will be helpful to Crist. I say, vote anyway... and if they try to stop you scream BLOODY MURDER!!

Don't just "give it away" because I plan to be at my precinct to simply watch the whole thing even though I can't do much. I refuse to let them roll over us by saying THEY DIDN'T VOTE!

VOTE, no matter what!!
