Charlie Crist selects running mate

CAPE CORAL — Charlie Crist has picked state Rep. Jeff Kottkamp of Cape Coral as his running mate.

The announcement is being made in front of Kottkamp's home here at 10 a. m.

The Crist-Kottkamp team faces Democratic nominee Jim Davis of Tampa, who is leaving his congressional seat after a decade. Davis' must announce his choice for lieutenant governor on Thursday, the deadline for making the decision.



Anyone know who Davis is going to pick??

1. Davis is likely to choose a black running mate...

to repair the damage done in the primary election. Short-list candidates would probably include state rep. Chris Smith of Fort Lauderdale or former state sen. Daryl Jones of Miami.

4. Did y'all see who Kottkamp works for?

He's a trial lawyer with Morgan and Morgan. As much crap as they gave us about Edwards being a trial lawyer and now they have a Lt Governor candidate who works for one of the most known litigators in the state. Morgan and Morgan's commercials are all over the TV. While Kottkamp has creds that shore him up with the Ridiculous Right, he weakens them with business interests. It doesn't appear to be a great pick.

BTW, I'll second a hope that Jim Davis picks Daryl Jones. Jones probably should have been our nominee last election. I'm not real fond of Chris Smith since he endorsed Jebbie back in '02.
