FL-22
Clay Shaw is currently seeking his 13th term in my Congressional District, FL-22. His opposition this time around is former Mayor of Wilton Manors, Jim Stork. I see that this race is considered moderately competitive, even if it is a likely GOP hold.

We came close to knocking him off in 2000, when Al Gore carried the district and Democratic challenger Elaine Bloom lost by only 600 votes.

I can't find the exact information, but I believe redistricting made FL-22 lean more towards the GOP. In 2002, Shaw won by about 20 % over County Commissioner Carol Roberts.

Is there even a slight chance that with a solid Kerry performance, we could topple Shaw?

Local DFA members are behind him and will probably be a lot of help for him on the ground. I also think there will be a lot of action in Broward for Kerry, and that can only help.

Carol Roberts got slammed in those ads about encouraging seniors to get prescription drugs cheaper from Canada she lost a lot votes from that. The whole encouraging illegal activities thing. I don't know what the angle will be for the slams against Stork, but they are sure to come. I don't think the repubs think Shaw is a slam dunk.

This is a most disgustingly gerrymandered district. I vote at James Kennedy's Calvary Church, just to give you an idea about this part of the neighborhood. The district runs the coast so its mostly upscale and repub with lots of $2000 * donors. BUT I have lots of friends in this area who are either registered repub or independent that will absolutely not be voting for * and could carry over. And the dems in my neighborhood are extremely motivated. Yep, I think it could happen and I am definitely going to help.

TSAIS - I came out of stealth just for you! There's a few of us down here, we really should try to get together. Sounds like you've really gotten involved - good, PBC needs you!

Edited to say Local DFA members - not national DFA.
