Kerry Vows to Win in Florida in November

JACKSONVILLE -- As a boat drifted behind the Jacksonville Landing and a plane flew overhead, both touting President Bush, Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry told a crowd of about 3,000 cheering supporters, "Florida is going to be Kerry country in November 2004."

Kerry is on a two-day swing through the Sunshine State, his 16th visit since he began campaigning for the presidency. He was to travel today to Orlando to continue to push for his health care programs.

"We're going to get Duval County for Kerry," said Clyde Collins, the county Democratic party chairman. "Florida will go for Kerry."

State Rep. Terry Fields told the crowd that 27,000 votes had not been counted in Duval County in the last presidential race.
