Bill Proctor (R-St. Augustine) calls for phasing out Bright Futures
This guy is an asshole. The ONLY thing wrong with BF is that kids driving to college in BMWs are eligible for it. Other than that it needs to be retained. I suggest getting ahead of this by writing your legislator, ESPECIALLY if you have kids nearing college age. The Republicans are about to gut another program that helps the middle class and poor.

1. Hate to say it
But they've been trying to phase it out for a few years already. It started out as nearly all expenses paid path to college, then it reduced itself down to only a certain percentage of tuition costs are covered, now it's at the point where it is only funding 2008 levels of tuition, with parents paying more and more out-of-pocket expenses. I give BF 5 years max before it becomes a thing of the past.
