Biden's U.S. Senate seat in 2008
Since Joe Biden is making one last futile run at the presidency in 2008, he will have to announce beforehand that he will NOT be running for senatorial reelection, correct?

So which Democrat in Delaware would be likely to make a run for Biden's vacancy?

I read that Governor Minner (who's term-limited) will be retiring from politics to spend more time with her family.

And I imagine Lieutenant Governor Carney will run to replace Minner as Governor.

Any other potential candidates?

2. Biden could run for re-election and President at the same time
And easily get re-elected.

However, if he decides to retire, there's a couple of State Senators who'd probably step up on either side. Also, Biden's son Beau, if he wins his race for Attorney General this year, would be in a good position.

The Republican's best candidate, at-large Representative Mike Castle, suffered two strokes earlier this year and is 69-years old, and probably won't run for the Senate seat.
