Tom Carper

Now that he is actively endorsing a non-D candidate in CT, it's time to dump Carper.

1. Well that's not happening until 2012
I mean, not like we have much other viable options other than voting for the republican or just not voting. He'll win by a landslide, all the top DE democrats are DLCers including Minner, Markell and Carney

3. Here's where I end up

Okay, so now he voted for the torture bill...

I have to ask myself why I shouldn't consider simply not voting in that race or voting for a third party opponent. If he wins, then come 2012 he's the presumptive democratic nominee. If he loses, he's not going to be running in 2012.

I have voted for Tom every time. Now, I would need a compelling reason.

4. I'll vote for him but if we fail to have a primary candidate in 2012
Then we are to blame.

I've been fighting over in GD/GDP with people who refuse to vote for Sherod Brown or Robert Menendez, both in extremely tight elections in November, because of this bill. But my attitude is this was nothing more than the republicans trying to shove a bad bill through congress 6 weeks before Midterms so they can screech against their opponent that "So-n-So democrat is soft on terrorism". I can almost see why Brown and Menendez, both whom did NOT support IWR or Patriot Act, would vote for it. Hell I'm thinking that the Dem Leadership wants this bill to pass because they know the torture is going to happen no matter what the status of the bill is; however, if we can get this bill to the courts - that could be major. But there is no excuse for Tom Carper voting for this - Jan Ting is just another token republican to lose to one of our senators.

But I'm not a hypocrite - I'll vote for Carper because I want people to support Brown and Menendez. But if we fail to put together a candidate in 2012, then it is us to blame, not Carper

6. Does he have an explanation for why he voted for that damn thing?
What possible reason could he have?

Bush is not popular, Bush's ideas can be opposed, especially by Democrats.
