Lamont considering run for Governor
http://www.newhavenindependent.org/archives/2009/11/lamont_throws_h.php

I hope he doesn't do it. I like Bysiewicz for governor and would rather see Ned run for national office. Bysiewicz can easily overcome the "not enough experience" issue.

1. I like Malloy myself.
I've known him since High School and he has the most experience of the lot as far as I am concerned.

7. I'm on board with Malloy now that I've heard him on
"Where We Live" on NPR and heard him speak at our DTC meeting this week. Lamont also spoke that evening. I'd love to see Lamont on the ticket as Lt Gov.

2. I like Bysiewicz too
I can't stand DLC Dan Malloy and neither do most Dems in my town in Northeast CT. Malloy has got that slick politician feel and Dems in my town feel that he will ignore our section of CT in favor of the Gold Coast and Hartford. Bysiewicz has been really good to my DTC and she most likely will win my town's DTC endorsement.

I think this is the wrong race for Lamont, but who knows. If he runs an innovative campaign like he did with his primary challenge to Lieberman, then he could make the race interesting and maybe he will win the governorship or LT governor.

I would rather that he save his political capital to challenge Lieberman again, but maybe he knows something that we don't.

3. Did Bysiewicz come and talk to your DTC? She came to mine
in August and I was very impressed with her.

I don't know enough about Malloy to make a judgment on his candidacy. I would never support Amman and would actively work against him in a primary because he supported LIEberman after the 06 primary

4. Susan attended my DTC's Oct. 29 "Meet the Candidates" Dinner
to support our municipal candidates. She always comes to our dinner. I'm in the process of uploading her speech to YouTube. My DTC was either the first or one of the first DTC's to endorse her for Sec. of State when she first ran and was written off before the election. She won and has been thankful for our DTC's support ever since.

I too would work against Amman, but he's currently polling around 4% so I don't think he's much of a threat.

6. I'm not thrilled with Malloy, DiStefano or Bysiewicz
I think with his money & name recognition, Lamont might have a chance to defeat Rell. I don't see the others being able to do that.

I don't think Lamont will run for Senate in 2012.

8. Well, now that Bysiewicz and Rell aren't running, any new thoughts on this?
Seems like Lamont is the only chance we've got.

11. Bysiewicz was my #1 choice for gov. Lamont my #2
I wasn't impressed with Malloy 4 years ago when he first ran. He's got the appeal of a used car salesman trying to offload grandma's clunker. He can be slick. Maybe he's improved since then, but I'm cynical about him. He was a DLC man and I am no fan of the DLC.

Lamont isn't a professonal politician and he can give "canned" answers to questions that require a response based on awareness of what many people are feeling. So Lamont can come off kind of stiff and prepackaged. But he has a natural optimism. The kind you see in Frank Capra's heroes, like "Mr. Smith goes to Washington" I think he truly believes that CT can have brighter days ahead.

Lamont, Malloy and other candidates will be attending my town's DTC meeting on Feb. 23 at 7:00 pm. Place TBD.

9. DTC meeting
Lamont, Malloy and Glassman spoke at our Senior Center almost two weeks ago.

I liked Dan Malloy the best.

I told Lamont all our Institutions are being run by sociopaths. He was taken aback. He teaches at Central and he suggests that education and training is the key to job loss. I asked him about the average of six people available to fill one position and how education was going to fix that and he said whats needed is the right type of training.

My personal vibe is Lamont is in it for a consolation prize for his taking on Lieberman.

I also liked Bysewicz when she visited our DTC mid 2009.

10. I heard Malloy on "Where We Live" on npr a couple of weeks
ago and was impressed with his accomplishments. He and Lamont came to our DTC meeting last week and spoke to us. I like them both. I'd like to see a Malloy/Lamont ticket and have the Lt Gov position developed into a real job, not a figurehead position
