Dear Friend,

This morning, I have the honor of giving the Democratic Response to the President’s Radio Address. This is a privilege that few have had over the last two years, and I owe it to you.

It is your hard work, dedication, and support that have made this one of the most competitive races in the country.

Right now, this race is a toss-up, but my opponent has more money in the bank than I do, and he's getting ready to flood the airwaves and mailboxes with ads. I need your help to win this race. Will you help me raise the money I need to counter his message?

Let me share a few excerpts from today's address with you:

"Our troops deserve from their leaders in Washington, nothing short of a commitment equal to the dedication the troops bring to their duty every day. Instead they get a flat denial of the horrible reality. That is why we need a new direction in Iraq.

"Democrats will change the course in Iraq and we will focus our efforts on defeating the terrorists with policies that are both tough and strategic."

"Democrats will do what Congress has failed to do - hold the president accountable. We will ask the tough questions and demand solutions that do right by our troops."

"When families here in Connecticut ask me about the billion dollars we spend every week in Iraq, I can’t help but share their dismay. In fact, when my cousin was deployed to Iraq, I wrote him a check so he could buy better body armor. Families are doing everything they can to protect their loved ones because our government isn't."

"Changing direction in Iraq starts with changing the people we send to Washington."

This is what we're fighting for: new leadership in Washington and a new direction for America. An end to the war in Iraq and the $250 million we are spending there every day. An end to debts and deficits as far as the eye can see. A new and sorely needed focus on education, health care, and transportation.

1. Incredible! I don't think I have ever heard

someone at her level of government have the honor of giving the rebuttal speech to the president. It shows what a fantastic leader she is.

Let's hope she wins and takes her place in the sun. She is truly terrific. Go Diane!
