Some teachers oppose 3A merit pay proposal
With a tiny budget, they're countering ProComp backers

They've raised barely $1,000 to their opponents' nearly $1 million, are copying leaflets to counter TV commercials and are banking on their experience in the classroom to fight the popular appeal of Mayor John Hickenlooper.

Few campaigns appear as lopsided as this one but a group of Denver teachers fighting Issue 3A on the Nov. 1 ballot - the proposed property tax hike to fund a merit pay plan for teachers - is hopeful.

1. I saw that in the paper on Saturday I think.
I'm planning on voting for it, as the union is behind it. But I must admit, it's not terribly clear how the program is supposed to work.
