Kevin Lundberg (R-Berthoud), the sponsor of the resolution. "The question before us today is will the time-honored institution of marriage, between one man and one woman, remain as the core institution for our great nation, or will unelected judges reduce the legal definition of marriage to any combination of anyone?"

Yes, ban gay marriage, because if you don't people will start marrying their dogs! And cats! Cats will marry cats! It will all come apart!

3. I have an idea!

I always thought someone should stage an event. Arrange a wedding between someone and their dog. Invite the press. Go through the whole ceremony. And then, at the end, when the dog can't sign the marriage liscense, act surprised. Make a big fuss and cancel the whole thing! Make a big show of it.

Let it serve as a statement of just how stupid the right-wing retoric really is.

4. what will the dems do?

they can stand and oppose it, but then look like "flaming liberals," or they can pass it and stand a better chance of maintaining control in an otherwise republican state. If, however, they oppose it, maybe it will send a message that hate is not a family value here in colorado.
