Here’s the deal people. It’s real simple
Ignore the “polls” that show Colorado is a lock for bush* and don’t listen to the right wing controlled media that try to pound this bullshit into everyone’s head. It aint so.

Let me try to give you a perspective:

1 - bush* won Colorado in 2000 by 145,577 votes. Of those, 137,870 were registered Democrats (24%). Even those most biased right wing polls are showing a maximum of 10% of registered Democrats voting for bush* this year.

2 - 32% of those that voted for Clinton in 1996 voted for bush* in 2000. Think about that for a moment. Why was that? Will they do the same this year?

3 - What drives Colorado voters to the polls? Money. In 2000 of those that felt their financial situation was worst…. 73% voted for bush*. Despite the right wing media that tries to tell us that Terrorism is the number one issue, it aint so. Zogby has a good handle on this and consistently shows that the number one issue is Jobs/Economy, followed by the War in Iraq, and Terrorism third (and sinking…)

So, what’s the deal? How do we take Colorado? It’s simple….

4 - In 2000 the repukes had a 72% turnout of registered voters. The dems had 67%. And the Ind’s came out at a rate of 44%. All we need are more voters….voting. We need to get the dem rate over 70% and the Ind’s rate over 50%. If we do that, IMO, we give Colorado to Kerry.

It’s called Get Out The Vote. If you’re not sure what to do, post your question here and myself or someone will respond. Take a day or five off from now until the election. Even ONE hour helping out can make a difference.

Stepping off soap box……

1. What about the environment?
I would think that would be a big issue in Colorado, and Bush's record is atrocious! Maybe someone should print up some flyers with this article:

White House Puts the West on Fast Track for Oil, Gas Drilling

by Alan C. Miller, Tom Hamburger and Julie Cart

WASHINGTON — Placing a heavy emphasis on energy production in the American West, the Bush administration has moved aggressively to open up broad areas of largely unspoiled federal land to oil and gas exploration.

The administration has pressed for approval of new drilling permits across the Rocky Mountains and lifted protections on hundreds of thousands of acres with gas and oil reserves in Utah and Colorado. In the process, it has targeted a number of places prized for their scenery, abundant wildlife and clean water, natural assets increasingly valuable to the region's changing economy.

I don't think he made the trip over there just for kicks.

4. One of my neighbors is a registered Democrat
who voted for Bush* last time. I noticed recently that she had a new Kerry bumpersticker on her car.

Someone else who I know is an older gentleman who had been a lifelong registered Republican. He recently switched his registration to Democratic because he hates Bush* so much.

In the other direction, I've talked to alot of people who voted for Nader last time, who are voting for Kerry this time.

These are personal anecdotes from someone who doesn't get out much, and doesn't know that many people. If they are in any way reflective of what's going on in the state as a whole, I think alot of people are going to vote Democratic who didn't last time, and I think we are going to take this state.

We just have to keep plugging away.

He was here as recently as last Saturday, ie yesterday, in Pueblo. No way has Kerry pulled out here.

7. "Pulled Out" = "Cut Ad Buys"
The DNC and 527's will continue to put Ads out in Colorado. Kerry didn't "pull out" of Colorado, he just pulled out his...."I'm John Kerry and I approved this message" money. It's all about managing the money during this last week blitz.

That goes to the heart of my Amendment 36 argument, but another day...

Some real Twilight Zone type data in todays Zogby, but there are also some very good signs...check out the Ind's %, the Dem%, and as I indicated in my original post... The Economy still brings people to the polls in this state.

8. Kick
:kick:
Call in sick for a couple of days. Tell your boss that you have the flu and it's too bad that you couldn't get a flu shot because bush* did a terrible job of planning for this....and can you imagine if this country had a BIO attack .... how could this moran handle something like that if he can't handle flu shots...

Or, maybe that's over the top. Just call in sick.
