What do you think of Salazar's performance on Meet the Press?
I watched it. I thought he did well. How do you think he did versus how Coors did?

1. Gov Salazar had facts and did his homework, Coors was bumbling....
....and did not have a clue or have any substance to his answers when asked "who are the appeasers in government".

13. "Gov" Salazar
is actually the Attorney General. But at least he's had some political experience - unlike Coors who just wants to start as near the top as his name will carry him. What a schmuck!

3. I think Salazar is more qualified
It was unfortunate that Ken Salazar had to defend Bush's pro-Iraq-war position. The death penalty discussion was interesting. The discussion of age 18 drinking was a waste of time.

I am still debating sending Ken $50.

4. an outsider's view
I'm sorry - I thought they were both pitiful. Yikes. Well, at least they seem to be evenly matched. This was the first time I had seen either one of them on TV, so maybe it was just a bad day for both of them.

5. I think Ken Salazar was off..
didn't they debate here in Colorado just last night?

Coors showed he ws unprepared, but if Salazar had been a little sharper, it would have been like the first presidential debate in which Kerry made GW look foolish and unprepared.

I think Ken Salazar will be a fine senator and he has a good record in Colorado. Most importantly could be any kind of coattails he has for his brother in the third district.

6. He seems to have reverse coattails for Kerry.
His senate race is actually helping Kerry.

8. Yes, and I don't know how
Ken seems to have gotten it into his head that publicly associating himself with "The Most Liberal Man in the Senate" wouldn't go over well with CO voters (See this Denver Post article*, and note Salazar's testy response to Russert's question's about not appearing at any of Kerry's events here; he essentially said he wouldn't rearrange his schedule for Kerry). Still, if it gets him into office, I don't care if he burns Kerry in effigy on the steps of the State Capitol.

9. it's vital that Ken Salazar becomes CO's next Senator . . .
Edited on Sun Oct-10-04 09:31 PM by TaleWgnDg
Why?

Because CO may cast the vote that keeps the Republicans as the majority party (again!!) or vote in the Democrats as the majority party who control the U.S. Senate. This is so damn important this year.

Why?

Because the U.S. Senate is the political body that "okays" all federal judicial nominees made by a sitting U.S. president. In other words, the Senate "approves" or "disapproves" the judges and justices of the entire federal court system. And this is important for this next four years.

Why?

Because the entire U.S. Supreme Court depends upon it. This is the deciding presidential term (4 years), DUers, when one or more USSupCt justices will retire or may die. The voting pattern of the USSupCt has been so close in important cases, for example, 5-4 or 6-3. It's that simple.

Case law as handed down by the USSupCt sets law across this country that typically stands for 40, 50, 60 years or more. Add that to the length of time that a justice(s) remains on the bench because this is a life-time appointment!

Additionally, George Walker Bush is packing the rest of the U.S. federal court system with rightwing ideologues who are pushing their own personal views into law across America.

Do you want "rightwing" as law for that many years?

This is the rightwing agenda: to change the dynamics of law through majorities in both Houses of congress and through the presidency; and to change the dynamics of the law through rigthtwinger ideologues seated in federal courts across America.

Don't gamble as to who may be president in this close Kerry-Bush race; instead, cast insurance as to who may be the majority party in the U.S. Senate.

VOTE for KEN SALAZAR !

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

10. He did okay
seemed nervous.

I thought Pete Coors came across as phony, underprepared and easily rattled. Russert asked what tools Kerry was proposing we get rid of that Coors thought endangered our security (three times) and he couldn't name one. I wish Russert had asked if Coors had actuallyread the Patriot Act.

I think Salazar is rightfully putting some distance between him and Kerry - anything that even smells of the term "liberal" is a deathnell in Colorado. Fine with me if he doesn't appear with him.

I'm feeling better about this race - Salazar by 2-3 points.

12. I don't think Salazar seemed ready for such a large stage
but Coors was even worse.

I'm sure Salazar will grow into the job.
