My Republican neighbor just ratted out an Arnold petition gatherer!
Did I mention she's a nurse? ;-)

Woohoo, this is starting to be so much fun.

1. Grew up there + college at SB. This guy is an embarassment.
I say, impeach him and put in Gavin Newsom right now. Newsom looks more like a star than Arnie and he's a good, smart Democrat.

3. Hmm...let's just say, I was there when the Doors visited and when
there was the little incident at BofA. Was there for a few after that. Lived on that cliff for a while (the one in Isla Vista) then the last year in down town, as they call it, SB. How about you?

6. Ah, so you were there in the radical years. I was just a few years later
when the environmental movement hit its heydey in the late '70s. I have fond memories of parties in Isla Vista and at the beach--sullied only by those clumps of tar that washed up from the offshore oil rigs. (The oil companies swore it was "natural seepage," though long-time residents said otherwise). We learned to always keep a tin of kerosene handy for cleanup up barefeet after those beachwalks.

8. Remember Garret Hardin?
Yeah, the tar was ridiculous. I'm a night person so the beach was of interest from sunset on. Unreal place in many ways. I moved to NYC after graduating and it just blew my mind...and I stayed for a long time. I had Hardin for a 'senior seminar' on the environment. Great guy and I think he was an early heavy weight in the movement. Also, obscure tid bit--UCSB was one of the first 8 sites on THE original internet (Culler Fried online linking 8 defense research facilities).

18. Yes, I recall Garrett Hardin.

I was an environmental studies major--even did a river trip down the Grand Canyon as part of a senior seminar course run by Rod Nash.

I also have fond memories of hanging out at Borsodi's (spelling?), the coffee shop/bar in IV that always seemed to have a poet or guitarist or sitar player or something off the wall.

Those were the days!

5. How does that work? Is it illegal to ask someone to sign a petition?
Is it that you are not allowed to go door to door?

7. California For Democracy has a hotline to report Arnold's petitioners.
After you call the number, CFD sends out people to stand next to the paid petition gatherers at shopping malls or wherever and handout flyers explaining why people should NOT sign these measures.

You can get the phone number at www.californiafordemocracy.org.
Keep it in your car and purse for a fast response!

...but it's apparently Illegal to PAY someone to do that for you, they have to be volunteers. It helps cut down on Government Corruption.:eyes:

13. Not if the alternative is a Governor Bribing "volenteers"...
...to help re-elect that corrupt Governor, who is destroying your State Government.

Just imagine if we could do that with the Chimp or Tom DeLay, have a guy standing next to them, and every time they told a lie, someone was standing next to him to tell everyone that what he just told them was Bull Shit.

I'll tell you one thing, their would be more that 1500 U.S. Solders and more than 100,000 Iraqi's that would still be alive today

19. Did you see the latest news on Arnold's propaganda?
Turns out he's breaking the law by producing covert propaganda videos, according to the Legislative Counsel.

There's talk of making Arnold pay back the taxpayers, since he used taxpayer funds for brainwashing Californians. No word on whether any stations actually RAN this load of manure.

14. Arnold is the one trying to take away our freedoms
to hold free elections. He's also breaking our state laws, a judge just ruled, because Schwarzenegger is using taxpayer funds to produce covert propaganda videos that he's been sending out to TV stations disguised as news. Now a court says Arnold may have to repay all that money he stole from taxpayers to make his propaganda videos.

He's lying about these initiatives, too. CFD is doing a public service by informing people the truth. That's not being a minder--unless you consider "minding" the public interest to be wrong.

CFD's people are not harassing or intimidating anyone--just telling the public the other side of the story.

Unless you're a freeper, I don't know why you'd object to exposing the truth about Arnold's lies.

21. My sister too is a repub
and a nurse and she participated in the big protests on the Capitol
steps. She is now re-thinking some of her positions. She hates the
Boobengrabber!

Also, I heard on the radio this a.m. that this election will cost
my county millions which will in turn, cause some county employees to get laid off! This is CRAP! Let the Girly Freak pay for his own bs and I bet he would still lose!

BTW, I am a public employee too. I don't think if he won on the PERS matter that I would lose my PERS since I was hired before the cutoff date of 2007, but it's just wrong. When is he actually going to keep a promise or two that he made to Californians and stop pushing his own agenda?! I can't wait to see him slither back to Bev Hills.
