Whose Worse
Has has a piece on Schwarzznegger in which they point out that he campaigned as a corruption buster, once he became governor it became clear to some people that he had not real intention to bust corruption. In the opinion of DUers from California which governor is/was more corrupt, Gray Davis or Arnold Schwarzznegger?

2. What's corruption got to do with it?
Who's worse for California? That's the question.

At least Davis didn't threaten Cal-PERS.

4. I challenge ANYONE to PROVE Gray Davis was corrupt
Davis was able to compete with Repubs and raise funds but catering to one's base and QUID PRO QUO are NOT the same thing.

Davis did make some faustian bargains that got him TAGGED as corrupt simply because he could not run the risk of industry leaving California after the tech boom went bust.

That is NOT anywhere NEAR the wholesale attempt by Arnold to sell of the state's riches to the highest bidder.

5. Gray's biggest mistake was being boring.....
Hey, there's a reason they call him Gray!
But I do feel he was unjustly blamed and voted out of office for bankrupting this state. Enron held us for ransom. They told Gray they were going to turn the lights out if he didn't pay the extortion. What was he supposed to do? He tried to get Bush to step in and do something, and Kenny-Boy's good buddy turned a deaf ear. You'd think people would cut Davis some slack after all of Enron's shenanigans have come out.
Here's an email I received from Arnie a few days ago:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the status of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule. I am passionate about protecting California's natural resources. Preserving our land, air, and water will remain a central focus of my work as Governor.

The State of California has a keen interest in the management of all National Forest System lands-regardless of designation-under the stewardship of Region Five of the USDA Forest Service (USFS) in California. I believe that California's interests are best served when truly roadless areas remain roadless.

Due to pending legal questions about the status of existing roadless protections, I have taken strong action to ensure the safety of roadless areas in the Golden State. At my direction, Secretary for Resources, Mike Chrisman, has requested that the Forest Service undertake a rulemaking process for California that will result in a final Roadless Rule at least as protective as the existing rule. I am pleased to inform you that on January 27, 2005, the Forest Service agreed in writing to fulfill this request and finalize a rule to protect California's roadless areas.

Thank you for taking the time to write. California's uniqueness and beauty depends on concerned citizens like you who are invested in the future of this great State, its environment and its natural resources.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger
