Any Santa Barbara DUers out there?
I'm a freshman at UCSB and was just wondering if any of you guys are in my area. If you are, introduce yourself!

1. Was there for 2 years a while back
getting my Masters in EE. Wonderful school. One of the more beautiful campuses in the country. Try to get some studying done in between parties...

Seriously, though, you do have to be careful about all the distractions...

4. Glad I'm not Alone
Hi there, UCSB frosh:

DU is mandatory daily reading for me, and I'm glad there are other SB County folks here.

I'm 30 miles up Hwy 101 from you in Buellton, which is pretty hardcore Republican territory. (Buellton went to Bush by a 3:1 margin.) Needless to say, being one of a very small handful of liberally-minded people in such a horrifyingly conservative bastion makes my life stressful. That's why I spend as much free time as I can in Santa Barbara - which runs quite blue, thankfully.

UCSB is an awesome place and it's hard to get into. (The whole UC system is tough, but UCSB is especially competitive.) So, I must congratulate you for ending up there. Do all you can to stay. A diploma from UCSB is getting more prestigious every year.

Spread the word on campus and get involved with political activism. We have to be prepared to turn back evil in 4 years.

Jim

7. Hi all!
Santa Barbara is fabulous. Dems only have a small registration edge here, but we have way more happening in the city & parts of the county than the repubs.

Besides DU, Get involved in local politics too. There's campus dems; the SB Progressive Coalition; the democratic service club; PUEBLO; Healthcare for All; the People's March; Veterans for Peace; and on and on.

We need to start working together to get things going in the North County.

cheers

10. More than likely
I run the website. I try to keep a low profile otherwise. We're gonna try to do more social events from here on out, so keep on checking your e-mail. It's been a sad tendency for the club to die out after an election, so we're trying hard not to let that happen this time.

14. I work in SB!
Hi Forever Free! Thanks for introducing yourself. Are you helping out with the CA-Madsen thing? I'm still trying to get caught up and find out what I can do to help in SB or Ventura county.

I'm trying to help but haven't had time because of work and the threads about it are just out of control! I'm having a hard time catching up with all that's going on.
