I am thankful for a smoke-free brew pub.
We have it good in California. I just got home from a lovely evening at the local pub. What a joy to go out and have fun without having to breathe cigarette smoke. Thank you, California.

1. The pressure on me to find a place to smoke when we...
took the grandson out and about was one of the largest contributors to my
quitting smoking nearly 7 years ago.

It just got ridiculous running out to the far end of parking lots and then trying to
find my family, again, inside the venues.

I quit and I am thankful I live in California.

3. Lately I am more and more thankful that I live in Cali! This state has some of the greatest laws!
From what I see we are on the cutting edge of progressive lawmaking and way ahead of most other states. That said, I also say, hats off to Hawaii for having single payer health care, and I hope we are to follow you soon!

7. Hawai'i has single-payer health care?
That's news to me, and I lived there until last year. What they do have is the Prepaid Health Care Act, which mandates that all employees who work at least 20 hours a week be insured. (You wouldn't believe how many 19-hour positions there are -- even with the state!) And even then, Sen. Inouye had to negotiate an exemption from ERISA (a law which needs an overhaul in the worst way).

5. I think it should be up to the proprietor and not the state.
I enjoy smoke free bars myself and would avoid ones that have smoking. However, if someone wants to run a business where you can smoke while you drink, they should be able to.

6. In California there are tobacco shoppes and private smoking clubs...
where there is no chance that a minor or nonsmoker would have to come in contact with
second hand smoke.
I don't know about the drink and smoke in those...but a beach bar around here has a lively
outdoor patio with lots of partaking in and all.

A little inconvenience to keep more Californians healthy...No Problem.

8. Smoke-free bars make it fun to go out. I'd stay home if we didn't
have this wonderful law.

9. I hadn't been to a bar for years and
finally went again this last month. It was wonderful not to smell cigarette smoke! I hope more states follow suit.
