5. Carly Fiorina for Senate!
http://www.mercurynews.com/top-stories/ci_14335433

But any debate about fiscal policy is bound to take a back seat when demonic sheep are involved. So it went with Fiorina's video, which lit up the blogosphere Thursday.

"I'm not entirely sure "... but I think Carly Fiorina just put out an ad in which she tells voters: 'I am the real sheep in this race,' " opined Maggie Gallagher of the conservative National Review.

Wrote Ezra Klein of The Washington Post: "It's almost impossible for me to believe that this ad comparing fiscal conservatives to sheep — but in a good way! — is real. But it is!"

Time's Michael Scherer was slightly more charitable, calling it "awesomely bizarre" and recommending watching it while listening to Pink Floyd's psychedelic "Dark Side of the Moon."

6. I just caught a whitman ad I think
She was saying how she KNOWS how to create jobs! She just didn't say where. And that California needs to be run more like a business and we need to cut government waste. Doesn't the budgets from the last two years PROVE there is no more waste to cut?

Everytime I hear a candidate talk about running government like a business, I run in the opposite direction. I hate st ronnie for convincing the sheeple that is true!

7. just saw an ad for her during the Olympics
wants to cut government spending, but doesn't say exactly what spending she wants to cut. That will be an interesting question for the debates if anyone bothers to ask it.

9. Welfare, that's what she wants to cut
The very first ad I heard of hers was her great plan to take people off welfare. What jobs they were supposed to get was not described. She's deranged.

"Former eBay president and GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman has smashed California's campaign spending record and spent seven times as much as her main rivals since January 1st.

The billionaire's campaign spent nearly $27 million in the first 11 weeks of the year, according to a disclosure statement filed Monday, the Mercury News reports."

19. I'd run an ad something like this...
...against her:

Remember when you started to hate eBay, because it turned into a bunch of Stores and big retail sellers? Meg Whitman did that!

Not that her replacement is any better. I remember when he took over and snarked that the private-seller part of eBay "looked like a flea market."

He immediately got several thousand e-mails pointing out: "It IS a flea-market, you idiot."

20. Megabuck$: If it's good for Goldman Sachs, it's good for California
That's right: she was chased off the Goldman Sachs board for, as we say out here, ethical issues. How do you manage that?!

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/04/11/MNAP1CSBOD.DTL

Candidate Meg Whitman touts her experience at eBay, the online auction house that made her rich, but her career and personal fortune are entwined with another company: the Goldman Sachs investment bank, a major player in public finance in the state she wants to lead.

Whitman's relationship with the giant Wall Street firm - as investor, corporate director and recipient of both insider stock deals and campaign donations - could pose conflicts of interest if the Republican front-runner is elected governor of California, critics say.

From 1998 to 2002, while she was CEO of eBay, Whitman helped steer millions of dollars of her company's investment banking business to Goldman, court records show.

Whitman left the board in 2002 after she was singled out in a congressional probe of bond underwriters and "spinning" - a financial maneuver, now banned, in which Goldman and other firms allegedly traded access to hot IPOs for bond business. Whitman later settled a shareholder lawsuit related to profits she and other execs made from buying the IPOs.

Please, please, let this grow legs...

22. Michael Hiltzik had a great column on this in LAT 4/24 . . .
From the Los Angeles Times:

Meg Whitman has her own definition of 'the right thing'

The gubernatorial candidate dismisses her preferential treatment in Goldman Sachs IPOs early in the decade as 'nothing illegal' at the time and 'very old' news. It's newly relevant now.

Michael Hiltzik

Meg Whitman says she lives by the principle of doing the right thing. It's there in the very first line of her autobiography.

"What is the right thing to do here?" she recalls challenging her underlings at EBay, where she was chief executive, after some troubling issue of customer service had arisen.

I've been trying to reconcile that principle with her actions in what's become known as her "spinning" scandal.

Eight years ago, it came out that Whitman was among an elite group of favored executives who had accepted preferential stock deals from Goldman Sachs while it was seeking business from their companies.

Edited on Fri Apr-23-10 01:30 PM by Ernesto
..."Billionaire Republican Meg Whitman's gubernatorial campaign, which has deluged California voters with commercials and 500,000 Meg-themed magazines, is launching two efforts today - a 30-minute TV infomercial and an unprecedented series of video on-demand campaign spots to reach voters at their remote controls."

23. The money she's spending on this campaign is like nothing I've
ever seen. She scares the crap out of me. I just hope and pray that her past dealings will be revealed by Jerry's campaign. God I hope he has a strategy! I'm so paranoid about her getting in that I'm in the very beginning stages of looking at moving to Canada (among other reasons).

24. I'm a NP voter
and I requested a Republican ballot for the primary just so I can vote against Whitman and Fiorina twice.

Recent polls suggest both of them are losing ground to Poizner and Campbell respectively.
