Election day question
Does anybody know if it is legal/illegal to stand outside the voting place and hand out democratic materials such as voting guides, etc.? I've heard that you have to be 10 feet away, 50 feet away from the entrance. Just curious if anyone knows the real scoop.

1. Its 100 feet in Texas
But I was informed tonight that the YMCA doesnt want electioneering anywhere on the grounds tomorrow, and the Republican election judge plans to honor that. I was wondering if he legally can do that past the 100' marker.

My guess is that it is probably different for each state.

3. I'd go with a hundred too.
I think that's standard.

5. 100 feet away in CA
There was a sign at the polling place this morning that said 100 feet.

I was trying to gauge whether that meant someone could stand on the sidewalk with signs that would be clearly visible to the people waiting in line.

I think the people you want to reach are not the ones at the poll. It is the ones who haven't decided if they are going to vote yet or not. The sign might do more good at the local food court.

That would be like standing across the street, practically. I agree that signs are probably not that useful at this point, but dem voter guides that give the props, city counsel members, etc. are always useful. You'd be surprised how many Californians are overwhelmed by the props, and leave them blank. Or just vote for the ones that are obvious, or that they have a clear opinion on.

7. That is a good idea.
I got a Dem voter guide on my doorknob yesterday, and it helped me pick the schoolboard folks.
