Rain! Glorious, beautiful rain!
Last month, in the middle of January, some of the hills were still brown. The serious lack of rainfall here in CA was starting to become worrisome. But we're getting slammed in the North Bay, and it's expected to continue for awhile. Rain away baby.

5. It's been rainy here, off and on
for the last week.

It's GREAT!

Now we have a series of rain cells coming in
starting tonight. Hopefully, it will last a few days
with short breaks in between.

8. The snow pack is down to 1200 feet
in the Sierras. The South entrance (41) to Yosemite was closed as of yesterday. It's been raining in the San Joaquin Valley for the last week and there's more on the way -- thank the goddess! Fresno's ponding basins are rapidly filling up (runoff rainwater that is captured and goes directly into the water tables) and the water fowl are starting to return. The geese and ducks have already shown up and the herons and egrets shouldn't be far behind.

20. That is excellent news.
If the snowpack and the water table are filling up, then this rain is doing all of us a world of good.

9. Look as though we're going to get a good one Sun/Mon as well.
Upside - more rain! Downside - high winds, especially in the foothills and passes.

15. Rain is a marvelous thing in Riverside.
The Box Springs Mountains are green, in the distance we can see the peaks of San Gabriels and San Bernardinos covered in snow.

18. I live in Whittier now.
But for about 7 or 8 years I lived in La Verne and then Rancho Cucamonga.

One of the very few things I miss about living out there is the view of the mountains. We don't get much of that over here in the smog puddle.

19. I grew up not very far away in Glendora and Covina.
On a good day we could see Mount Baldy, on a bad day, we couldn't see the local foothills. I learned the great truth of Southern California that way "never trust air you can't see, how can you be sure it's really there." :)
