I already know many Mer'kins are apathetic and stupid, but I've lived here all my life and I really don't want to think of Kollyforniyans as bigoted and hateful.

1. It would be terrible

But remember that it was 8 points down in the latest polls. With Obama in the presidency though, we would have a better chance of righting this wrong that we would with McCain.

That being said, if Prop. 8 were to pass, I'm going to have a hard time defending or praising California for quite some time.

3. I was down in the Paso/SLO area last week and there were so many "Yes on 8" people out
that I decided to buy a "No on 8" button at the SLO Demo headquarters.

The slogans are bizarre--Prop 8 is about parental rights and religious freedom? Huh?
(I know their arguments, I just think they're pathetic attempts to legitimize this stupid prop.)

4. Remember, though — signs don't necessarily mean votes
I was getting dismayed by the number of those awful yellow things around here, too, until I learned the haters are sticking them everywhere. Did you notice most of 'em are on public property? That's the way it is here.

All their bogus arguments can be boiled down into one truth: "Homos give me the creeps." Yeah, that's a basis for amending the constitution. :eyes:

5. There were a lot of people holding the signs too on the weekend
Usually they were standing in front of churches or at the edge of a mall. There was also considerable presence on both sides at the SLO farmer's market.

I agree with your assessment of their arguments.

7. i was just talking about winning the election
and losing that and how its really going to suck the life out of winning.

I really wish it doesn't pass. We need to be the state that kicks this shit in the ass.

8. i feel the same way and this has become a major emotional issue for me and i'm not one for
emoting or crying but it just makes me incredibly angry and sad.

I'm also tired of hearing "You're not gay so why do you care?"

9. I haven't heard that one yet
But I've been prepared for it. I'd even welcome it, because it'd give me the opportunity to say, "I'm for human rights."

I wanna hear their argument to that. :)
