AAR/LA rumors are getting stronger (1150 AM)
http://sdradio.net/today.shtml

EXTRA XETRA, Read all about it: ©2004 SDRadio, exclusive breaking news: Clear Channel Communications will be changing the radio skyline in San Diego and Los Angeles. SDR has confirmed that XETRA-AM 690 all sports programming is out; and adult standards is in. Xtra Sports 690/1150 will move to KLAC-AM 570. KXTA-AM 1150 in Los Angeles will pickup programming from Air America, giving the progressive talk network a return to the nation's second largest radio market. The slated change could be as early as October 1, and probably will happen November.

The new XETRA-AM would be programmed from Los Angeles with the possibility of live local programming geared towards both markets.
Xtra Sports 570 will offer all the current programming including San Diego's own Lee Hacksaw Hamilton. As an added bonus, industry sources tell SDR that the NBA is has been asked to approve LA Laker basketball on 690 AM. There is a current rule about out of market stations carrying basketball and a waiver has been asked from the league.

AM 570's signal is "second biggest next to KFI" sources said. KLAC is currently 5,000 watts non-directional and covers from Ventura to Baja. Like its sister station KFI, the station is a ratings factor in the market.

7. XETRA will not be AAR
690 is rumored to flip to standards (pop music for retirees). 1150 will likely be AAR.

5. It does feel as though we're FINALLY being moved back up from the
kiddie table.

Unbelievable how long it's taken to get AAR into LOS ANGELES for heaven's sakes!?!?!? We're nobody special, though - ONLY the media capital of the WHOLE FRICKIN' WORLD and these folks have left us stumbling around in the wilderness for MONTHS now. SHEESH.

Their website is up too:

http://www.quakeradio.com/main.html

I have to say, it's one of the more AAR affiliate sites. Very nice looking. Great logo, too!

The new station will have most of the AAR shows, and Ed Schultz and Lionel.
